Activities at the Greene County Fair next Sunday offer friendly competition in three different venues.
After watching experts judge livestock for four days, fair-goers of all ages are invited to try their own skills in a livestock judging contest in the show ring. Participants should be signed in by 11 am, with the competition beginning at noon. A round robin showmanship contest will follow at about 1:30 pm.
The Greene County Rams girls’ basketball team will again host a cribbage tournament in Clover Hall. Boards will be ready and cribs started at noon. There is a small entry fee to benefit the basketball team. Prizes will be awarded in singles and doubles competition.
Those who think they’re strong and want to prove it are invited to compete in Monster Arm Wrestling at 3 pm in the bus barn’s north end. A tough competition physically and mentally, the event is fun for spectators and participants alike. A certified referee and state of the art Monster Arm Wrestling Machine keeps games fair. Male and female contestants are divided by right and left hand competition as well as by weight.
MAW has conducted tournaments around Iowa for more than three decades. It is a popular attraction at the Iowa State Fair, county fairs, motorcycle rallies, celebrations, bowing alleys, taverns and even after prom parties. T-shirts and tank tops are available for purchase in four different designs and a multitude of colors from kids’ size 2 to adult extra large.
The entry fee for the Monster Arm Wrestling competition is $10. Contestant weigh-in begins at 2 pm to determine classes.
